Patos Island

Patos Island, one of our favorites. On a sunny October
Sunday we headed out with dear friends Mark and Maureen and their little Korean exchange student James. Wind was up abit but not too bad.

Pato Island is in the San Juans, right next to Suchia. It is a beautiful and quiet spot with only one bay. Two mooring buoys and room for a few anchoring positions, there is hardly ever anyone there. Perfect!

We walked down the short and scenic trail to the lighthouse which overlooks Saturna, Birch Bay, White Rock, and Point Roberts.
There is usually lots of wildlife to be seen from the point, one time we saw a Calfornia SeaLion, Otter, fifty Porpoises schooling around a herring ball.

We enjoyed the beautiful view
and headed back to Treazure
for lunch.

The lighthouse was a lonely spot years ago, the lighthouse keeper Edward Durgan and his family of 13 children lived there in 1905.

Back to the boat for sandwiches and salads and vino tinto.

Poor James got a little seasick on the way back but was fine when we docked.

We always have a great time with M & M. John and Mark have been friends for forty five years, Maureen and I only 30. So many wonderful memories of dinners and dancing and trips away. Good to add another one.
